Dear Brothers and Friends,
As many of you know, President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order on Friday, January 27th titled: “Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States.” This executive order restricts travel and immigration of persons from Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. We encourage any of our brothers and their families who may be affected by this action to consult with the appropriate legal council before engaging in any kind of international travel.
Sigma Lambda Beta stands with those that are affected by this action. We disavow banning people simply because of their faith, creed, or race. Moreover, affiliating these individuals with terrorists and other criminal endeavors violates their right to dignity and certain individual rights.
Sigma Lambda Beta believes in fairness and encouraging tolerance towards the views of others and we stand firmly against any actions that threaten the values for which we stand.
For those of you that choose to exercise your right to assemble, remember to do so peacefully. Reach out to various organizations to learn of the ways you can donate your time, talents or treasure. This is the time for us to work united to better our community, our country and the world.
We will keep all those adversely impacted by this order in our thoughts and prayers.
