SIGMA LAMBDA BETA INTERNATIONAL FRATERNITY INCORPORATED
Xi Beta
Chapter
Our Purpose
To empower and foster intellectual and social development
Our Mission
To nurture and further a dynamic, value-based environment which utilizes our historically Latino based fraternity as a catalyst to better serve the needs and wants of all people
Mission of XiBeta Chapter
The mission of Xi Beta Chapter is to continue what
our
6 Chapter Founding Brothers envisioned at Hofstra
University years ago in our humble beginnings: provide
a choice for independent men who are interested in a
Latino-based, non-exclusive Fraternal organization at
Hofstra, and to spread cultural awareness and serve
the community, as our Founding Fathers envisioned in
Iowa in the Spring of 1986, while unifying Latino
students.
Our programming has included vital
open discussions
facing the minority community and the general
community at large, ranging from "Human Cloning", to
" Inter-Racial Dating & Racism", to the "Commercialism
of Black and Latino Pride"
Our community services have spanned
many areas of
need, including: the collection of clothes for the
homeless, assisting Latinos in registering to vote,
protesting in Albany against the budget cuts made on
New York State's TAP (Tuition Assistant Program),
cleaning up neglected public parks in Latino
neighborhoods, and participating in AIDS Walk, AIDS
being one of the biggest medical epidemics in the
minority community.
Our Core Values
Brotherhood, Intellect, Diversity, Community, Generosity, Trust, Service, Responsibility
Our Team
A diverse group of men in the lifelong pursuit of knowledge, professionalism and global understanding in accordance with our core values
