WELCOME TO THE MIGHTY XI CHAPTER

The Mighty Xi Chapter was founded on May 17th in 1992. This chapter of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Inc. has proven the test of time by continuing to grow and strive with the help of men from all walks of life.

We are the largest Latino-based fraternity in the world focusing on enhancing the community's understanding of different cultures, as well as that of Latino awareness. Following our principle of Cultural Awareness, our hope is to enrich the UIC and Chicago community through a diversity of ideas and events. So please, feel free to take a look around and ask us about any questions you might have.

OUR HISTORY

On March 17th, 1992, Brother Mario A. Rueda of Northern Illinois University met with future Brothers, Gilberto Leal, Alejandro Reyther, and German Reyther at the Pier Room to discuss the possibilities of expanding Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity Inc. at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

On March 22nd, 1992, the first preliminary meeting was held by the interest group with Brother Mario A. Rueda and Brother Kevin Morris (also from NIU) at Alejandro Reyther's apartment. Brother Baltazar Mendoza(Founding Father) arrived later with future Brother Enrique Mallado, who had been in a previous interest group in conjunction with Columbia College in Chicago, but unfortunately, they disbanded. Once everyone was present, Brother Baltazar Mendoza started the meeting, discussing what it took to become a chapter.

That night, at 10:45 p.m., Founding Father Baltazar Mendoza - Madrigal, Mario Rueda, and Kevin Morris began the initiation process with UIC prospects Gilberto Leal, Enrique Mellado, Alejandro Reyther, and Gernan Reyther. Their line namebecame L.C.Q.D.R.S., founding fathers at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

On May 17th, 1992, at 3:43:17 a.m., the founding line, L.C.Q.D.R.S., were finally activated into Sigma Lambda Beta with Brother German "Conspiracy" Reyther as captain, Brother Enrique "Consejero" Mellado, Brother Alejandro "Fiero" Reyther, and Brother Gilberto "Six-Pack" Leal as Anchor.

From there, the Brothers formed the first executive board consisting of Gilberto Leal as President, German Reyther as Vice President, Enrique Mellado as Treasurer, and Alejandro Reyther as Secretary.
