| UPSILON CHAPTER HISTORY |
| On September 13, 1992 Rudolph Lopez of the
Theta Chapter at Indiana University confronted Jorge Ontiveros and Jesse Ocon with the
idea of starting an interest group at Purdue University Calumet. After much thought an
informal meeting was set for the following week. An informal presentation was made by
Ramiro Roman, Luis Arroyo and Gregory Ruiz. A formal interest meeting was set for October
1, 1992. At the meeting, members of Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity Inc. discussed the fraternity as a whole. Interviews were made and six men were chosen. They were Jesse Ocon "AVE", Luis Hernandez "DETE", Juan Velasquez "CHINO", Jorge Ontiveros "PINGUI", Jesse Bernal "SOLI", and Luis Roman "DIDO". These men were to be known as H.D.C. After many months and various trips to other campuses, the line of H.D.C. overcame many obstacles and continued to strive for their final destination. On April 4, 1993, the men of H.D.C. crossed over into the noble brotherhood of SIGMA LAMBDA BETA. On June 23, 1994, the brothers at Purdue University Calumet became the 16th Chapter of Sigma Lambda Beta. This Chapter was to be known as the UPSILON CHAPTER. |
