East Region Formal
In the fall of 1999 the Michigan/Ohio Alliance (MOA) was in a time of strong growth.
The Epsilon and Zeta Chapters were being refounded, Michigan State University was
recently chartered as the Pi Alpha Chapter, and expansion to GVSU and BGSU was
underway. As a group of continual innovators the MOA started to work on the idea
of having a regional formal. After much debate and planning it was decided that on
March 11th, 2000 the first MOA Formal would be held. The host school would be the
Western Michigan University Colony. The following year Sigma Lambda Beta redistricted
our nation and the MOA ended up as the only two states in the new East Formal.
We adopted the name East Formal and have continued with our tradition of setting
the standard for the nation in leadership and organization on the region level.
